The next Instalment from Ironheart CS showcasing the great music we experienced in Cardiff. Read below to find out more about Eve Rowlands, Michael Bush and Quincy, Tambo & Smalls, who filled the room with great vibes for a Monday night. Big thanks to Gemma Collard for photos and reviews 🙂
Eve May Rowlands’ summery folk songs build intrigue and drama. She starts tentatively and quietly, she then adds some punch, tempo and volume! Her songs are personal, written about memories and moments that obviously transport her back to happier moments. Her lyrics and command of her voice invite you to join her for the journey!

Michael Bush’s songs are those you want to hear whilst you’ve got your head leant on someone’s shoulder. They move you. He sings with a controlled mastery, letting the guitar drive you through the song, with utter concentration and command. He played some new, upbeat songs today I hadn’t heard him play before. Good progress!

Quincy, Tambo & Smalls! What can I say? I’ve been waiting to see these guys grace our big Broadcast stage for ages! I just love these gritty solo vocals, then the harmonising kicks in, which takes it to another level! Foot-stomping rock and roll, these boys play from the heart! Some seriously dirty rocky blues. Close your eyes and you’re not in Cardiff anymore. Find them here: https://www.facebook.com/QuincyandThemDeadBeats?fref=ts
Yet another fantastic night of great unsigned music from The James Clode Band, Bryony Seir and James Davies. We always love to #sharethelovefortheunsigned and especially on my pre-birthday bash! The team were on the ball as usual. Here’s a snapshot of what you missed and what to expect each and every Monday, ‘Live’ from the Capital.
James Davies stepped up at last-minute to play last night. He has a powerful voice and sings with soul. His song Gauranga was one of the best opening songs we’ve heard, feel good music. He was joined by friend Sheralynn to perform one of his most treasured songs and despite her nerves, their voices blended beautifully. Look out for his EP, coming soon! The James Clode Band – JCB – what can be said about these guys and gals? They have energy by the bucket loads, they’re a tight group of friends which comes across in confidence and pure enjoyment to play. They’re a real party band, quality tunes you can’t help but move along with. They have a brand new album launching this Friday, treat your ears… Find the JCB here – http://www.thejamesclodeband.co.uk
tonight’s ‘Live’ broadcasts from the Brewhouse was an all female affair! Beautiful melodies, soulful harmonies and fun were the order of the night.
Amo Rex has the most beautifully chilled, dreamy voice. She sings of stolen moments, distant memories and with raw emotion. She writes, plays and sings the kind of songs that make you want to lean your head on a special someone’s shoulder. You can place yourself in each of her songs. I particularly felt this during ‘Echo of the Rain’. Beautiful tones, keep watching this talent emerge.
Ambergris‘ singer has a powerfully captivating voice, she sings with real clarity and is supported by two stunningly melodic guitars. Their song ‘Gold’ particularly stands out and is live in Big Scott’s playlist on Inspired by Unsigned now. They grab the audience’s attention, humbling and melancholy.
The Floral Wham Trams – WOW! A young band, full of fun and summer funk. Their sound is filled with fiddle, banjo, bass, guitar, ukulele, tambourine, a strong drum line and three female vocals. They’re a band of best friends, you can see they’re having fun and it’s infectious. They make you tap your toes, shimmy down with a real festival feel. They create an atmosphere and are REALLY exciting to watch. Catch them soon!
May’s Nosda ‘Live’ Broadcast saw the Sleepyhouse duo and Thousand Fingers Band make their debut in Cardiff.
Sleepyhouse are a guitar and vocal duo with a chilled out vibe mixed with funky guitar and emotive vocals. We’ve broadcast them twice now and each time they’ve evolved and grown in stage presence. The journey is just beginning but I’m excited to see where these two are going. On to the next big stage!
Thousand Fingers – They bring wall-to-wall sound, they clearly LOVE playing their music. A full set, packed with a heavy bass line, some serious stadium rock guitar riffs, brilliantly heavy drums and strengthening, passionate vocals, they are FUN and they make you want to move. Plus, they’re the nicest, most gracious lads in rock and roll!
Bank Holiday fun with Big Scott Radio broadcasting ‘Live’ from Brewhouse, Cardiff. Our big Brewhouse family brought VJ Lucifer to the venue for our end of month special, always a pleasure and the visuals backdrop get more mesmerizing. IronHeart CS filmed & Edited this film. Live shots and set reviews by Gemma Collard Photography.
Rhys Thomas John’s bluesy sound is full and fresh. He’s loaded with personality and plucky, rhythmic guitar. I looked around the room and everyone was rapping along. There were times he transported me to the Deep South in my head, I’m keen to hear this powerhouse voice with a full band. Fortunately, he’s part of Bigfeat so perhaps that could happen in the near future. www.facebook.com/RhysThomasJohn
Wayne Brennan Music – I can’t ever get enough of hearing and seeing the musicianship here. Wayne masters his guitar and makes the most dreamy instrumental sounds. His vocals are strong and he’s passionate about everything he sings. It helps that he is just one of the most friendly people in the business. You should check out his album…it’s stunning! https://twitter.com/waynebrennan
Kinky Boots Band – wow these are exciting to watch! From dreamy, soulful keyboard, thundering bass and fast, powerful drums, it’s a roller coaster ride from start to finish! I want to hear more!! Find Kinky Boots here: facebook.com/kinkybootsband
Jack Ellis Music are a four piece packed full of rock rhythms with an incredibly fast and funky bass line, demanding and powerful drums. They make a BIG sound with strongbow vocals and impressive tempo changes. They move with every beat, feel every word and chord and it’s infectious. They KNOW how to rock. www.twitter.com/jackellismusic
We are proud to share our second installment of the wonderful videos being created to present unsigned geniuses to a greater audience. Performing in this video we have Tobias Robertson from Newport, Harri Davies (Cardiff) and to close out the night we had Leighton Jones & The Soul Tip from Grangetown. In collaboration with Stewart from IronHeart CS and Gemma Collard Photography who is also our wonderful resident Reviewer/Promoter, we strive to fine tune and create a unique and professional platform for us to #sharethelovefortheunsigned we discover every week. Feel free to have a read of the great reviews and check us all out using the links below. We hope you enjoy watching and look forward to seeing you at the next broadcast x
Tobias writes about those near misses we all encounter in love. He gets passionately involved with both the music and the lyrics; his vocals and fretwork are testament to that. Find Tobias Robertson here –http://on.fb.me/1JV3o4E
Harri makes his guitar produce a crisp, clean, and everlasting sound. You can see how much he’s moved by what he’s singing about; while his feet tap away to the rhythm, I can’t help but want to hear it amplified. Find Harri Davies here – http://on.fb.me/1LeWub
Leighton Jones & The Soul Tip are a six piece seduction of soul. They produce a full sound, strong percussion, velvet bass, funky guitars, bright keyboard rhythms and a beautiful marriage between the two vocals. Watching them is infectious, you’ve just got to move to the music. Find The Soul Tip here –http://on.fb.me/1Ah7TGp

Our Artist of the Month for May – has to be the young and very talented Tom Auton. He came onto my radar in Dec 2013 and we gave him his first real ‘Live’ gig at Nosda. Check out his first ever gig right here –
We asked him to come back and show us his progress last month and boy has he come a long way. Winning many a competition and garnering a healthy following of young female fans, this young man is on a path to great things. Great lyrics and a wise head for such a young talent. Cheeky charm and gentle melodies make him stand out and looks that compliment the whole package. I am sure Agents will be knocking his door as soon as he reaches 18! All that is left to say is ‘Lock up your daughters’ if he is in town! Here is what you missed last Month and be sure to check him out on the social media links below 🙂
Many thanks to Gemma Collard for arranging this interview with Katie Eason from Made In Cardiff TV, to help highlight the cause to keep the Brewhouse ‘Original’ nights going for the Unsigned artists from Wales and beyond. After nearly 2 years the nights are under threat due to a lack of footfall to the venue on a Monday night. To read the full story click here.
