“I had a fantastic experience performing at the Brewhouse in Cardiff with many other new acts from the local area. Big Scott and his team put on a great show and its brilliant and unique to see a venue that supports up and coming talent and not just your usual covers bands and so on. These people are the future of the music industry.” Owen Paul (Mike & The Mechanics)

“Our experience on Big Scott Radio was awesome, an intimate setting working with some amazing and talented people. Scott’s hospitality was wicked, such a great guy to work with and he delivered a fantastic radio show. Listen to it regularly to this day!” – Thousand Fingers

Big Scott’s is a true gem. I was lucky enough to perform at The Brewhouse a few weeks ago and it was a true honour. It’s rare to come across such genuine, welcoming, passionate individuals running a night of music. A great crowd, gorgeous video/photography, and wonderful host – what more could you want? – Emi McDade

————————————————————————————

Thanks again for inviting us along to your night. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely. It’s really heartening to know that someone like yourself is still championing live music at a grassroots level, and we’re honoured you gave us an opportunity to perform – Sankara

The reason we were so keen to get back involved with Big Scott is the strong emphasis on supporting original music, and the totally un-exploitative nature of the setup. Bands are well looked after, great unsigned artists are played over the PA whenever other great unsigned artists aren’t on stage, the events are recorded and broadcast which gives bands like ourselves invaluable video content to share and showcase, and Scott himself has a very kind, gentle presence who encourages and enables creators and performers to be themselves and do wonderful things with their craft. Big Scott is a textbook exhibit of perhaps the most vital rung in the original music ladder.  The Starling Radicals

————————————————————————————

Big Scott is keeping live music ALIVE! He cares about the music and it shows. So welcoming and introduces all the artists, like the Cardiffian Jools Holland! The sound and setup was great too. Hopefully he’ll have us back soon – By Jupiter

Big Scott is an ambassador for the unsigned nights at Brewhouse, providing us a platform to play our original songs in the city centre no less. Cracking venue with great sound giving us the best we could hope for. We would have loved to play more for you, our set was a small part of a fantastic night of original music. Each and everyone of us had a great time, we’ve had great feedback from the night, the raw footage streamed on the night to the wider audience is something so valuable. Big Scott is the passion behind #sharethelovefortheunsigned and we truly felt loved 🙂 Kinky Boots

Scott, your doing amazing mate to get such a great crowd and vibe for a Monday night! The way the night flows and the live feed for people to watch at home is great! Would love to play again and also come to another night! Great night! Nathan Launchbury-Jones

Love and respect to Big Scott for his unrelenting pursuit to showcase the very best of local unsigned talent. The Brewhouse live nights are a fantastic pedestal on which such talent stands. It’s a great venue with a great atmosphere. Thanks again for your support Scott, you are a true hero of this industry 🙂 – The Dole Age

I had a great night working with Scott and his team at Nos Da. It’s so rare to see DJs put in a real effort to help unsigned artists get their name out there to promote themselves, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities he provides. Scott is clearly passionate about what he does and I look forward to working with him again – Cal Hillan

A great night, perfect for an unsigned artists who want to get their music out there. There was an amazing atmosphere in the room and an incredible audience. I really enjoyed myself – Gareth Howatson

The Brewhouse Live stage brings fresh, original music back to the City center for free and promotes unsigned bands with a live broadcast experience which is laid back, encouraging and very professional. A testament to all involved – Some Kind of Leader

————————————————————————————

Big Scott and the unsigned shows he puts on in The Brewhouse in Cardiff really helps to push original artists to a wider audience. It gives the artist a platform to display their new music and songs that they want to test with different audiences. The fact that it’s filmed and broadcast is also awesome, it gives people a chance to experience their first live AirPlay and to be able to look and listen back on themselves to better themselves for the next live showcase. Big Scott is very enthusiastic about original unsigned artists and it’s always a pleasure to work with someone who feels the same way about your music as you do! – The Broadcasts

Cool night, marvelous fun, only slightly marred by my failed attempt at crowd surfing during the sound-check!!  Our performance was alright, sound was cool. This night is a really valuable gig for original artists to sound out their acts, and see what’s what and what not 🙂 looking forward to our next event… Much love – The Irascibles

We loved playing at the Brewhouse. It’s a great place for upcoming talent to showcase their music. We had a warm welcome off Scott and his team. It was a lovely sounding venue, with great acoustics. We had a fantastic sound on stage. Thanks to the sound engineer. We really enjoyed ourselves and can’t wait to come back and play again in the future. Matt John Band

It was an utter joy to be asked to play for Big Scott, both on the show and for the follow-up event at Brewhouse. A huge number of our fellow bands have been featured on the programme in some way, so it feels like something of a rite of passage for Cardiff-based musicians. Thank you for inviting us and please let us know if there’s ever another chance to work together! Albatros Archive

Just wanted to say a big thank you for interviewing us on your radio show, then hosting us at the Brewhouse later that night. What you are doing is a fabulous opportunity for Unsigned bands to be heard. It was great to hear one of our records on the radio too. We’re looking forwards to coming and playing for you again in December. What It Is

Playing at the Brewhouse is a brilliant experience, especially with Big Scott as the host, to have his and the venue’s support from radio to stage is very encouraging and inspiring. The Brewhouse always offers a quality, attentive and enthusiastic audience, perfect for the “Original Music” nights put on, providing local singer-songwriters the opportunity to play new music and reach new listeners. I think that the way you are helping the local music scene by giving artists like me a voice is great. The events are always entertaining! You love music and it comes through with what you do and you support all of us – Michelle Ellen

————————————————————————————

Big Scott is a great guy! He’s like the new John Peel! Within moments of speaking with him you can feel the passion he has for anything Unsigned. Not only does he give local musicians a forum to put out their work on the radio, the guy hosts a few nights putting on only Unsigned acts. Give him time, Big Scott is a legend in the making – Steve ‘Bespoken’ Dancey  (Jugganote)

I very much enjoyed the atmosphere of Brewhouse, it was refreshing to see such a variety of original material all in one venue. As for the venue itself, the acoustics were lovely, with great clarity. The crowd were very responsive and seemed to actually listen to myself and all of the other performers. I also thought that the live feed was a good idea for people who couldn’t make it to the gig on a Sunday night. Well done to “Big Scott” and company for organising such a successful night, there should be many more of ’em – Michael Bush

Performing at NosDa for Big Scott’s unsigned night was a very organized, well promoted event, with a fantastic set up and even greater atmosphere, it gives artists a platform to expose and broadcast their art around the world. Any artist, group or band who are playing live need to take advantage of such a rare and amazing opportunity. If every venue had a Big Scott working for them it would make our jobs as artists a hell of a lot easier! – Artisfiction

Nowadays with iTunes and alike it’s easy to be a music lover and surround yourself in song.  Gone are the days of the true music lover who not only listens to music they actually support the artists and seek out new sounds at every opportunity, or are they? Scott Travers or BIG Scott to his friends is the continuation of a dying breed, he simply loves music and supports unsigned acts in any and every way. He asked me to play for By The River ‘Live’ at The NosDa Basement and what A fun night I had. A great set up with relaxed but professional attitude coupled with great sound and a great venue. All I can say is you all missed out on a cracking night and look forward to doing it all over again. Mar Kel the Badbelly

I love your website its brings a whole new message a community a world-wide community of helping all those that represent creativity. You give them a chance to express themselves and know that your radio show gives them a chance to express who they are through their music. I love it, love the fact no politics just that they are given a chance – Maddee Dargue (Malta)

Playing at Scott’s Original’s Night at the Brewhouse is always a treat. Not only is it a lovely venue with excellent sound equipment, but it always feels welcoming – from Scott, the staff and the audience alike – and I’m always eager to return! It’s great to have a platform like this where I can play new material and know that original music is the focus rather than a constant stream of covers. Thanks for having me, Scott! – Ellie Makes Music

Playing for and working with Big Scott was a great experience onboard The Black Pearl in Malta with both local and foreign acts. I personally think what Big Scott is doing is wonderful; selecting artists and giving them a chance to shine and be heard. The fact that he was not interested in the usual cover songs, I felt more confident playing my own music. It was a pleasure working with him and I look forward to doing it again in the future! – Billy Lee (Malta)

A brilliant night, last night at the Brewhouse. Such a great atmosphere. Scott, you are ever so friendly, professional, and chilled too. The Brewhouse is a great place to play with a great sound and last night’s experience was awesome. The acts were outstanding. I was so pleased to be a part of this great bill. The acts that I’ve seen in the last two gigs with you have blown me away. As a promoter you’ve put on the best gigs I’ve played at so I’m always excited to come back – Paul Edwards

“Scott is a perfect example of exactly what the music industry needs! A true return to the love of music, not industry marketing. A true love of the discovery and sharing of art, instead of the unthinking digestion of whatever is thrust on our musical plates. His enthusiasm is infectious, contagious in the best of ways, and stirs in me memories of the young music lover that just had to learn to sing and play because of the songs I heard that touched my heart and mind so deeply. Playing for the show was an honour, and hell of a lot of raw fun! It is amazing that something so professional was arranged in that short period of time. Hats off to Big Scott, and all that helped him that day. A huge thanks and much respect to all involved.” David Ellul (Malta)

Last thursday night I had one of the best experiences ever… I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to meet up with Big Scott… He must be one of the most dedicated person when it comes to music I have ever met… He simply dedicated his life and his time to unsigned artists all over the world…. Giving them the opportunity and motivation to write and performing their own material…. it didn’t matter who was on his stage. From a 14 year old girl to a mature artist, and he didn’t stand still one second! He’s got so much vibe in him… he left a lot of goodness in our little island… And speaking about myself meeting him has helped me to keep the pilot lamp constantly on, to keep writing my own material, because there is always someone out there that is willing to give their quality time to sit back and explore new material not only from signed artists…. Thank you so much Big Scott… And keep up the good work… We will always be following you live at the Reflections pub in Malta… Hope to see you again later on in the year.. Keep sharing your passion…. Darryl Malta

Playing for Big Scott was an absolute blast! The gig was incredibly well organised and all of the musicians performing were treated with great respect. Scott’s passion for live music was especially reflected in the lengths he went to promote the performance through live streams, radio play, high quality venues and line-ups. We weren’t working for the promoter, we were working with him and absolutely intend to do so again. Thank you Scott! We will be back – Ash Tucker

Brewhouse Original Sundays are exactly what Cardiff needs at the moment. A chance for a band or artist to show off their original songs without having to pay to play or wait 2 hours to play 10 minutes in an open mic night. Scott Travers has managed to build this night into a live recording and broadcast giving the artist the ability to show the world their work. Highly recommend this night to anyone who wants to show off their songs to the world, or anyone who wants to go see some rising talent for free on a Sunday night. – Fingertrap

Scott’s enthusiasm for music is infectious and unusually eclectic. He seems to take a wholly genuine interest in unsigned artists as writers, performers and as people, making them feel comfortable, encouraged and appreciated, which is an increasingly rare ability! So much time is seemingly spent discussing ‘reach’ and ‘fan-base’, with very few promoters and DJ’s taking Scott’s pro-active approach to introducing unsigned acts to new and eager audiences, rather than expecting them to independently bring an army of hard-core fans to each and every gig! It is no criticism to say that the only deciding factor for Scott is evidently the quality of the music itself, on its own merits and regardless of hype (or lack of). Scott has built such a reputation for unearthing quality unsigned talent that it’s got people coming to his events, and listening to his shows, on blind faith… The evening itself is held in a great venue, in a supportive atmosphere, on a massive stage, with sweet sound, and all held together with just the right mix of professionalism and humour from Scott, that keeps the night rolling along at a slick yet relaxed pace for artists and audience alike. Scott has been an absolute pleasure to meet and to work with, it’s great to meet someone who truly cares about all aspects of the local unsigned music scene and who also has the skill and commitment to share that passion! Ioan Davies (Rum Puppets)

It was a great experience, launching the Moody Groover project at your showcase. Friendly atmosphere, an appreciative audience and not a rotten tomato in sight. What a relief! Thanks very much for the opportunity to play my own tunes in a music friendly environment, instead of covers. I will definitely do it again, if you invite me back to one of your original music events. Kindest regards and stay beautiful. Andrew Bond (Moody Groover)

Thank you! Really enjoyed the evening, it’s a great opportunity for local unsigned acts. The venue and in particular sound was particularly excellent. Really nice chilled out atmosphere. What I particularly appreciate is the amount that you tried to promote it, giving us all a good amount of exposure, along with the video posted online (great to be able to listen back!) Really enjoyed, thank you – Cara Pearce

Big Scott is the very tall guy with dreadlocks who hosts lots of entertaining and talented up and coming bands in the Cardiff area, concentrated in the popular Brewhouse venue he regularly hosts originals bands nights whereby the newest talents are given a great chance to work with a professional sound man and Scott! To put on the city’s latest music, in the style of John Peel he enables and networks with Cardiff’s independent music scene, getting involved in other initiatives like OXjam and The New Hub Festival. He always embeds the ethos of local music by playing just local bands as a DJ at the gigs and on his popular radio shows at Radio Cardiff 98.7fm. I’ve played with my band The Bones of Saint James at a number of his events and it is always meticulously planned and suitable hospitality and incentives given to the bands. Bands need innovators like this and the music business feeds off of the work done in this style. The bands want Scott to develop more venues and have a presence in places like Chapter and the Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay. Keep up the good work Scott! Vic Doyle – The Bones of Saint James

MR Big Scott I want to say thanks to you and your crew for the tremendous work that you are doing with your radio program, thanks for featuring my song on your program yesterday the 10th of March, the feedback been very great from my fans across the world, so many people link me and saying they heard my new song on your program, I am very grateful and thankful for such energy, thanks to you Big Scott. Respect! Eazy Wayne

The unsigned night at Brewhouse was a refreshing change from the run of the mill acoustic nights I have been to. There is large and well-kept stage with a courteous and sound engineer who listened responsively to my requests. The night was well organized , bringing in talent from home grown artists and from further afield. Cheap beer prices make it an exceptionally good platform for artists to play in front of people who perhaps would not ordinarily attend these gigs. Also, the fact that the entrance is free gives everyone the opportunity to see a great night of entertainment for a minimal amount of money. Scott actively promotes the events and because it is broadcasted live online, I found I was able to connect with fans around the world who would not ordinarily get the chance to see me play. Luke Williams

The Brewhouse ‘Originals’ night is such a great opportunity for unsigned artists. The night gives new artists the chance to perform their music to both live and online audiences. I thoroughly enjoy playing these sessions, the atmosphere and response from the audience is always great. I feel these ‘Originals’ nights have been beneficial for my progression as an artist. Nia Ann

Scott gave us a great opportunity to be able to perform our original songs in such a fantastic venue and not only playing to the crowd that were there but being streamed live on the internet too was a new experience for us Twelve Strings

NosDa- “In the shadow of the Stadium, NosDa is a fine musical venue supporting local musicians and helped run by fine folk… We look forward to making a return here soon……. Big Scott – A true believer and promoter of original singer/songwriters/bands ….and an all round gent. Folk fans of ours were able to view the performances live that evening online but it also got recorded and put up on YouTube in a matter of days. A Great service to the musical community…. My lead guitarist has come up with this…. NosDa, budget Hostel and Eatery by day, Live music venue and host to Big Scott’s Live By The River Broadcasts by night. Friday 25th Jan saw the JCB headline a bevy of fine acts from Cardiff and with Big Scott at the wheel, punters were treated to a heady mix of original folk, blues and contemporary folk-rock tunes. Nic Thomas and CJ Blues tee’d the evening up nicely before The JCB unleashed an hour or so of sonic delights. In Big Scott’s own words “these guys really know how to put on a show.” James Clode Band

A man with a musical plan! Unsigned acts, radio shows, live music nights and globally streamed gigs hosted all over Cardiff. We had a great time playing at Brewhouse, Scott & Team are a friendly bunch who obviously enjoy their work and are willing to help artists on the way! Great sound and atmosphere at the gigs. We look forward to playing for Big Scott again 🙂 – Tony Hand – Black Cohosh

————————————————————————————

“We recently played a gig for Scott and Drew at the Royal Oak. We were impressed with the idea of broadcasting the live radio stream and offering podcasts of the event as latter downloads. We played with some really talented acts and the audience were really there to support live music. We wish Scott and Drew well with this initiative and long may it last.” – Steve Johnson – Anonymous Iconoclasts

“I really enjoyed playing the Live on Broadway with Big Scott. The sound system was really good and the engineers were experienced and attentive and got a good sound for me. The other bands were all friendly too. It was great to have a HD video of on the track I performed too. Secret Sounds who made the video used footage from 3 cameras and it was edited to a high standard and I have since used this video to get other bookings.” – Bron – Little Eris

“Big Scott gives a genuine platform for emerging artists from all around to perform and promote their music in Cardiff. Thanks for the continued support!” – Matt Brettle – Edition
