U & I Radio Our New Home

Hey Guys,

As you may have seen I have been testing out a new radio network called ‘Unsigned & Inspired Radio’ (U & I Radio) for the last 6 months, which have been going really well and we are very near a full launch!. A new and fresh website has been created with only a few tweaks left for us to sort at www.uandiradio.com

—————————————————————————————————————————————–

This will be our new home to conduct more great ‘Live’ broadcasts on a weekly basis. When we are not ‘Live’ you can listen to a vast database of International Unsigned artists of most genres playing original music to your heart’s content! We also play classic mainstream and rare tracks from days gone by with a healthy mix of Reggae, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Blues and world music.

As the station develops we will have more fun and funky DJ’s, talks shows and worldly link-ups to discover more great Unsigned & Inspired music.

We have decided to stop using the Ustream and researching doing the same through Youtube. So for now the only way to listen is via our dedicated Microsite or via the TuneIn App.

Many thanks for your support and please remember to like all the new pages and help us to…

U & I Radio ‘Live’ – 3rd August 2015

Gemma Collard Photography joined Big Scott Radio for a live Unsigned & Inspired broadcast from Brewhouse, Cardiff with Joe Bayliss, half of Jebbers and Boxjam. Read on for reviews, Mixcloud, photos & videos.

—————————————————————————————————————————————-

When Joe Bayliss sings you get chills down your spine, perfectly punctuated by the sound his acoustic makes. He tells stories through his songwriting and has the most chilled out tone to his voice. http://joe-bayliss.bandcamp.com/

Abbie Jebbers and John Sudbury; half of the band ‘Jebbers’ were recently broadcast by Big Scott Radio. They ooze Soul, with hints of Jazz, Folk and Blues. A real eclectic, summery sound. I particularly liked ‘Songs & Strings’ which shows off the velvet tones to Abbie’s voice and features on the latest EP. They also treated us to some ultra new songs! http://jebbersmusic.bigcartel.com/

BoxJam roll with a toe-tapping beat, strong, gritty vocals, chilled out acoustic and bass. They say they are a covers band, the singer wrote the originals played for us whilst bass and cajón ad-lib’d. Nice! A definite ‘Jam’ – keep up the originals! https://www.reverbnation.com/boxjam

Unsigned & Inspired Showreel – 27-07-2015

Here is this month’s installment courtesy of Stewart at IronHeart CS & the lovely Gemma Collard Photography. This video showcases the fantastic skills of Joe Kelly, The Bakestones and The Noses. This was probably the best line-up we have had on a Monday and we smashed all previous attendances both in the venue and online. Many gremlins tried to get in the way but we beat them down with a musical stick! Be sure to help us #sharethelovefortheunsigned and say hello to the performers. Click here to see who’s ‘Live’ next week 🙂 x

—————————————————————————————————————————————–

—————————————————————————————————————————————–

Joe Kelly delivers old school, bluesy, Americana folk with his infamous husky voice, anthemic electric acoustic and soulful harmonica. Plus he was joined by Rhys from Them Dead Beats who bashed the old tambourine for a bit of added craziness! Go Say Hello…

—————————————————————————————————————————————–

The Bakestones fuse funk with blues and good old-fashioned rock and roll. They make you wiggle and stomp! They go from strength to strength every time they grace our stages. Go Say Hello…

—————————————————————————————————————————————–

The Noses are ‘Welsh Hillbilly Punk’ (it exists!) of the highest order. Their sound seriously indulges all the senses. Exciting stuff! True craftsmen who love what they do and it oozes onto the stage! Real showmen too. Go Say Hello…

Listen to the full show again, warts and all 🙂

‘Live’ By The River with Atterbury & Tommy & The Trouble – 25-07-2015

Here you will find all the footage of our  great last night broadcasting from Nosda on a Saturday. Don’t worry we will be back in September on the first Wednesday and the same each month thereafter.

Well what can we say about Tommy & The Trouble apart from awesome! They sure know how to kick up a beat with real instruments while Tommy gets into your heart and mind with evocative and inspirational words of wisdom. We will definitely be listening to these guys live somewhere int he near future for sure.

—————————————————————————————————————————————–

Atterbury was a bit of a surprise and a pleasure, as it is rare to see a young man (17) spit some positive and determined lyrics, with the odd expletive to a sense of intimacy! He was not afraid of the stage and cameras. In fact he relished them! Atterbury is definitely one to watch for the foreseeable future.

Unsigned & Inspired Showreel – 13th July 2015

This week we had the pleasure to broadcast the ever evolving Paul Stephen Edwards, the charismatic and gentle Owain L Whatley and the formidable five-piece that are known as Tendons. All gave exemplary performances for the loyal locals and online listeners which you can see below. And as ever a big thank you to IronHeart CS for the video, Cardiff AfterDark for sharing our events nationwide and the wonderful Gemma Collard Photography for wicked pics and reviews 🙂

Paul Stephen Edwards delivers his gritty, emotive songs with a mastery of his vocal range, delivered with acoustic guitar in a punchy, heartfelt way. Find Paul here: http://twitter.com/PSE_Music

Owain L Whatley‘s bluesy melodic folk makes you sit up and pay attention. He throws out a serious smoulder with his lyrics and quiet but edgy guitar. He tells big stories through big songs and a big voice. He even treated us to one he’d written on the day! Now that is the kind of exclusive we like at Big Scott Radio. Find Owain here: http://soundcloud.com/owain-l-whatley

The collective sounds of Tendons Music is really quite beautiful. Chilled out, acoustic melodies, five-part harmonies licked with double bass makes for a really intimate, special gig. Find Tendons here: http://on.fb.me/1LgMaz6

Big Scott Radio ‘Live’ – 6th July 2015

Showreel by IronHeart CS is now ‘Live’

On Monday we were treated to surprise additions to John Adams (who was accompanied by Andy Morgan) and Owen Hackett (who was joined by the Bandoliers) before we had Wet Painttt rock the night away. As usual we say a big thank you to IronHeart CS for the teaser video and Gemma Collard Photography for great pics and reviews. Come join us next Monday and always remember to #sharethelovefortheunsigned to your social networks 🙂

Singer songwriter John Adams sings about love, pursuing dreams and happy times, supported by Andy Morgan on keys, his smooth and dreamy vocals really transport you. I LOVE his song ‘Silent Letters’… johnadamsmusic.co.uk/

==

Owen Hackett.‘s rock and roll sound consisted of trio vocals with The Bandoliers, with Owen on lead and plugged in acoustic, stomping drums and a truly old school tumbling bass line. Nicely retro!

WETPAINTTT play some seriously dirty roc a rôl, as we like to say here in Wales. Their lead guitar drives through their songs, with edgy vocals, big bass and powerhouse drums.  twitter.com/WETPAINTTT

Big Scott Radio ‘Live’ – 29th June 2015

 Teaser Showreel by IronHeart CS is now ‘Live’

The line-up for Monday 29th June 2015 started with the amazing Nia Ann & Joe Marvelly, followed by Bella Collins & Gareth Evans. Then we took it uptempo with Curious Orange and to rock it out we had Commander BOOM! Read below for full reviews by Gemma Collard Photography and links to all involved in these wonderful weekly shows are in the footer of every page 🙂 Come join us next Monday and always remember to #sharethelovefortheunsigned to your social networks 🙂

Nia Ann – This woman’s command of her voice is impeccably controlled, she flutters and flies between high and low, it’s orgasmic! For one woman on a stage she certainly fills it. Her stage personality is blossoming each time I see her. I love her softer, quieter songs. That said ‘Not Just The Material Things’ from her new EP is fun and funky especially when partnered with some excellent percussion from Joe Marvelly. She will certainly be featuring at 2016’s Vale Jazz Weekend… Find Nia Ann right HERE

==

Bella Collins & Gareth Evans opened their set with one of my favourite songs of Bella’s – ‘Baby Got Me Talking’ in their standard, jazzy way. Gareth’s guitar transports you to faraway destinations and the flair to Bella’s vocals just flows. They will also be at #ValeJazz in 2016, for sure! Find Bella & Gareth right HERE

==

Curious Orange are a two guitar and bass trio with three massive vocal harmonies. They have bags of personality, brought a good following and are clearly enjoying playing on our big broadcast stage. Their love for it is pretty infectious. There’s angst, emotion and stories laced through these lyrics and they’re delivered with feeling. Check them out, a refreshing take on the local music scene. Find Curious Orange HERE

==

Commander Boom – I’ve been following these guys online for a while now, so I was pretty excited to get them live in my ears. My favourite song by them, ‘Light The Fuse’, lived up to everything I wanted it to be in the live version. Rocking! Stadium rock guitar shreds, bass slaps, female power on the drums and a quirky vocal, reminiscent of those nineties, Seattle sounds. Yes! You can find Commander BOOM right HERE
